Houston’s Top Pet Charities
Recognizing Houston’s Top Pet Charities
Fall begins the season of giving thanks and of giving to those in our families, our community and for Houston’s top pet charities.
As we reflect on the past year we want to recognize a few of Houston’s top pet charities who have as their mission the welfare of our furry friends that become lost or homeless.
Houston’s outstanding pet charities work to help improve the lives of cats, dogs, and other animals, along with their human caretakers. All animal charities are deserving of praise, of course, but these charities have been recommended by our fans and customers and are ones we feel deserve special recognition for their contributions to the lives of pets & pet owners.
The Forgotten Pet Advocates is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that supports animal welfare. We are the voice to those animals that have no one to advocate for them. These animals have been abandoned in boarding facilities, in Houston and surrounding areas.
Homeless & Orphan Pet Endeavor (HOPE) is a coalition of animal advocates dedicated to ending the homelessness of cats and dogs in the greater Houston area through foster to adoption, feral cat Trap-Neuter-Release, and education.
The Houston SPCA, founded in 1924, is Houston’s first and largest animal protection organization and shelter. Our mission is to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit charity, funded entirely by donations, which receives no funding from the Government, United Way or national animal groups.
The Houston Humane Society is dedicated to, and working towards, ending cruelty, abuse and the overpopulation of animals while providing the highest quality of life to those in our care. We receive no federal, state, or local government funding and rely solely on donations, program services and special events. HHS provides numerous programs for Houston area residents and their pets, including pet adoptions, humane education, R.A.I.D.E.R. cruelty investigations, and Houston’s best high volume, low cost spy/neuter and wellness clinic.
Save Our Strays Fort Bend is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization located near Houston, Texas. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters who are in danger of being euthanized, give them the medical care, nutrition and socialization they need in our caring foster homes, and find them permanent, loving, homes in the US and Canada.
Corridor Rescue is a non profit organization on a mission. A mission of mercy, rescue and awareness. A mission to save lives and correct an injustice to animals who have been thrown away and left, often times injured and starving, to fend for themselves in the I-59 and Little York area of Houston. An area dubbed the “Corridor of Cruelty”. We’re not talking about a handful of animals, but hundreds of physically and emotionally damaged animals in the fight of their lives to simply survive another day.
Bandade is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization and is in need of your support. All donations go directly to services for the animals. If you have four legs and are lost or in need of assistance, Bandade Animal Rescue is a welcome, and often lifesaving, sight. Bandade is dedicated to helping animals which have become lost, neglected, or abandoned. This organization rescues abandoned, stray dogs and cats, attends to their medical needs, attempts to find their owners, and prepares them for adoption. Bandade also actively participates in control of feral cat populations which includes trapping, veterinary services (spay/neuter and attending to general health issues) and release of the cats.
